New Screenshots Ahoy
Mighty Rocket Games announced a cooperative brawler spin-off to niche horror game Obscure earlier this year... but were met with outpourings of disappointment from series fans who'd hoped for a full sequel. As such, the madcap action platformer has been retitled to 'Final Exam' to distinguish between the brands, with the developers not giving up hope of eventually continuing the series proper.
We've got the quotes and some new screenshots after the break.
"When we read the first comments following the announcement of our new game, we understood that our fans expected a different content from a game entitled 'Obscure'", explains François Potentier, Mighty Rocket Studio director. "We understand fans all the better because we are first and foremost passionate gamers! Thus, even if the game makes a great number of references to Obscure and Obscure 2, we thought it important to rename it. At the end of the day, it's a question of honesty and respect to the gamers. 'Final Exam' does befit the game accurately.
"Final Exam is the first corner stone of our new studio, and we hope this title will enable us to grow, as we have not given up on the idea of developing a real sequel to Obscure."
Matt got hands-on with Obscure back in March. "If they can get the infrastructure as slick as it needs to be for pick-up-and-play goodness, combined with a downloadable marketplace price point, few would begrudge Mighty Rocket a strong return following the closure of Hydravision," he wrote. Fingers crossed for September. It's slated for PC, PSN and XBLA.
