The Oculus Rift 3D headset, which entered full production after an unbelievably successful Kickstarter campaign, is now available to pre-order. The dev kit, SDK and shipping will set you back $345 (£213.07), though the finished retail product may benefit from a few more months of development. Orders will ship in January 2013.
Matt tried out the Oculus Rift at Gamescom and managed to jot down his impressions after recovering from a serious case of blown mind. Once you've gotten over the initial shock, wearing the headset is just like stepping directly into another world, with industry legends like id Software's John Carmack praising its potential.
