Platinum's Hideki Kamiya is legendary for designing radical new games. He brought us Okami, Viewtiful Joe and Bayonetta, amongst many others. However, a tweet regarding his love of innovating rather than imitating devolved into a full-blown argument over the weekend, wherein the veteran designer called out PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale as a 'rip-off.'
The first post was innocent enough: a little observation about how fan service can sometimes lead to a lack of innovation. However, as followers got involved with the discussion, the conversation soon turned to PS All-Stars Battle Royale... and how it offends Kamiya's sensibilities as a designer.
You can follow the translated highlights over at NeoGAF. Before you get involved, remember that Kamiya's criticisms come from a conceptual and design standpoint.
Suffice to say, we love Kamiya here at Dealspwn (though we're excited about Battle Royale), so I won't weigh in to keep our platform of objectivity intact.
