This latest outing of the Flashpoint franchise might not have been developed by the original team, those guys headed off to do their own thing with ARMA and most recently ARMA 2, but Codemasters has done a sterling job balancing a frighteningly realistic modern shooter with an easy to pick up interface that enables you to dive straight into the action. Game is currently selling both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions for a temptingly cheap £14.98. That almost £2 cheaper than either version at ShopTo.Net.

Hardcore fans of the original Flashpoint series might sneer at the 'dumbing' down Flashpoint received when compared to hardcore military sims, but there's no complaining about the presentation and stunning visuals. Using the same engine as GRID it depicts a beautiful rolling landscape and certainly puts you right in the middle of a believable warzone. You get just 11 missions to play through in the campaign, controlling a four-man squad either on your own or playing in co-op mode, which is by far the most enjoyable option.
The realism plays out in that bullets don't always go where you point your gun and switching weapons takes time. This is going to annoy those who have been brought up on Call of Duty style games and yet won't be enough to satisfy those hard-core military fans of the original. But if you're looking for a little more meat from your first-person shooters then this is well worth the look at this price.
