Orcs Must Die! 2 Announced, Will Feature Co-Op

"Bring A Friend And Destroy The Orcs!"

Robot Entertainment has announced a sequel to their critically-acclaimed tower defence/action hybrid, entitled Orcs Must Die! 2. As well as providing new gameplay features, the sequel will address the major problem with the original game: the lack of cooperative play.

Orcs Must Die! 2 will continue the hectic blend of action and trap-setting championed by the original downloadable title, but will feature an "enormous" new upgrade and spellbook system. This will give players greater choice about how best to deploy their defences and develop their characters. As you'd expect, an entirely new campaign and menacing new enemies will challenge us to make the most out of our selection of fortifications.

More importantly, Orcs Must Die! 2 will offer online cooperative play, allowing a second player to take the role of the War Sorceress. This new character uses mind control abilities, and can be used in the campaign as well as multiplayer.

In 2011, we implored players to kill the orcs. As many as possible. Yet, only 3.4 billion orcs have been slaughtered to date. The only way we will get to a respectable orc death toll is by adding another killing machine and cooperative play. Bring a friend and destroy the orcs! - Robot Entertainment CEO Patrick Hudson

Orcs Must Die! 2 is slated for a summer release on PC, though other platforms haven't been announced as yet. We awarded the original game 8/10 in our Orcs Must Die! review, and existing fans will be rewarded with exclusive content.

Key Features

  • New Campaign - Orcs Must Die! 2 features a full campaign that you can play in single-player or with a friend in co-op. Choose to play the campaign as the War Mage, a headstrong hero who charges into danger, or play as the more nuanced Sorceress, a new hero who keeps enemies at bay with mind-control and magic.
  • More Enemies - An army of vile new creatures is set to pour through the rifts, and they've brought all of your favorite trap-fodder from the original Orcs Must Die! along with them!
  • More Defenses - Orcs Must Die! 2 has an enormous armory of new and classic defenses, including an all new assortment of magical trinkets. Use your new spellbook to buy defenses and upgrades the way you choose to, building up your arsenal based on how you play the game.
  • New Upgrade System - The skull system has been completely redesigned. You will always earn skulls for replaying levels, and the skulls can be spent on multiple persistent upgrades for each of your defenses.

I bought the first game for £5 but I don't like it. It's all wrong.

I don't care about having an avatar in this kind of game - I don't want to worry about running around. It makes it impossible to see the carnage (orcs dying).

The focus should be purely on funnelling orcs into diabolical death-traps and then watching what happens.

One of my all time favourite games. Put in loads of hours just trying to beat the high scores. So happy coop is coming out! Perfect blend of 3rd person shooter and tower defence.

Ooo torn... OMD1 was great, but I felt very fleeced by their DLC extra content policy. Some of the DLC was extra traps it was like they held them back from the full release of the game to make a couple of extra quid on the side.

I might wait on OMD2 until the Game of the Year edition is out with all the DLC included, in a steam sale.

Bought this a while back and still not played it... must give it a try. if hurrakan doesn't like it I will probably love it as that seems to happen a lot!

I got this crazy cheap during the Steam Xmas sale not expecting much but absolutely loved it. First game where I've actually given a hoot about the DLC.

Proper psyched about this.
