Another day, another deal for another terrible “casual” game on the Wii. But wait! It turns out that Order Up! is a minor gem in disguise! If pretending to cook is your bag then it seems that you can do no better than getting yourself a copy of this title. Which makes the fact that The Hut are currently selling it for just £8.73 (over £1 cheaper than the next best offering) pretty darn handy.
Starting as a lowly assistant chef at "Burger Face", your passion for food sees you working your way up the culinary ranks as you strive to achieve your dream of becoming a restaurant mogul. The better the meals you produce, the higher your tips will be. The higher your tips, the quicker you can add to or upgrade your restaurant.
Unlike so many third party titles for the Wii, Order Up uses the motion sensitive controls to great effect, utitilising the Wii remote for all areas of food preparation (chopping, slicing grating) and cooking. The controls are tight and responsive and add to the game's fun factor nicely.
The graphics are bright, cheerful and cartoony, though certainly not to everyone's taste (frankly I find the characters' massive drug-addled stares not far short of terrifying) and there is plenty of decently delivered voice acting. The gameplay is good fun, if a little limited, and getting all the way to the top of the restaurant chain provides a good challenge and will take you some time.
