Dev kits for the $8 million-funded Kickstarter success story that is the Ouya began shipping out at the end of last year, and the developer community has being responding, mailing in feedback thick and fast to the Ouya team, and a number of popular suggestions have been taken on board, particularly with regard to the Android-powered mini-console's controller.
Over on the Ouya development blog, the team responded to feedback, starting off with the D-pad, which has been changed from a disc to a more precise cross. "OK, OK we heard you :). We’ve changed our D-pad from a ‘disc’ to a ‘cross’ style. W00t! Gone are the days of the “accidental” diagonal move. Accuracy and precision are back."
Elsewhere, the thumbsticks have been upgraded to provide better traction and grip, the triggers aligned to be more flush against the body of the controller itself, the touchpad made more responsive, and the build quality around the battery improved.
