OUYA Officially Out Now

The OUYA micro-console has enjoyed its official retail launch in the US and Europe today, available in the UK exclusively from GAME. The inexpensive silver cube brings Android gaming to your television, though still seriously needs to get its act together in terms of providing a strong games lineup.

OUYA's OS and marketplace have seriously improved since our cautiously optimistic pre-launch review via the magic of firmware updates. I'll endeavour to bring you our final verdict on the Kickstarted console soon.

I don't understand this exclusivity deal. It makes the console harder to buy, and severely limits people finding out about it.

Still tempted - but it looks like xbmc isn't up and running yet (can you confirm, Jon?), so I'll wait for now.

@Late: the official app isn't out yet AFAIK... BUT it is possible to side-load the Android version of XBMC (this might make for an interesting read).

They were on sale in my Game on Saturday

I'm unrealistically hoping that this becomes the "arthouse cinema" of games consoles, offering refined, intelligent indie experiences for the serious gamer

At the mo all it seems to be getting are android ports. I really hope this changes as this simply tarnishes the thing with the label "smartphone with a HDMI out"

Please announce something exciting gaming wise! I want you to succeed.

I agree with Late why the Exclusivity deal? If only 1 retailer is allowed to sell the product that means there is no competition thus no incentive to offer better prices for the consumer. Also the controller (an extra one) is £40!, didn't you say the PS3 controller worked on these? That's cheaper and I wager a better quality controller overall.

Sigh...and as a kickstarter backer I still don't have my console. So much for getting it 3 months before release.

Ouch! That seriously sucks, mate.
