SimCity Amusement Park DLC Out Today

SimCity's first major DLC pack - a selection of theme park rides and facilities - has released today on Origin for £7.99.  Our wholesale disappointment with Maxis' broken simulation is a matter of public record, but if you're interested, we've got a new trailer and details after the break.

I can't help but feel that our city limits should be a bit bigger to fit all this new stuff in. I wonder if anyone's pointed that out before...?

GoD Factory: Wingmen Hands-On Preview | Kickstarting The Space Sim MOBA

Platform: PC

Developer: Nine Dots Studio

Space: the final frontier. Ever since man first looked up at the stars, we've always dreamed of reaching that wild black yonder... before strapping into a sleek fighter and rendering entire battlefleets into space dust with obscene amounts of neon firepower. Well, speaking for myself, at least. Kickstarter is allowing the dormant space combat genre to finally make a welcome resurgence, but now that we've played Strike Suit Zero and await the likes of Limit Theory, Elite: Dangerous and Star Citizen, a new contender approaches from the humblest of origins.

Nine Dots Studio, who graduated from Xbox Live Indie Games, are working on a competitive 4v4 space sim that fits neatly into the popular MOBA sub-genre. GoD Factory: Wingmen locks two teams in a battle for survival and territory, tasked with destroying their foe's hulking carrier ship while defending their own. Boasting simple yet effective arcade mechanics, fast-paced combat alongside robust persistent ship customisation, this indie effort promised an exciting new take on the genre.

Having recently tested a very early alpha build, I'm inclined to agree.

SimCity Update 4.0 Out Today, Will Fix Global Economy

It's only taken the best part of three months, but leaderboards and a working global economy are finally coming to SimCity! Yay!

Not that this will encourage us to fish our copy out of the volcanic crater we hurled it into, you understand.

There are a number of bugs being fixed and features being restored in Update 4.0, and this time, the hilarious bug fix of the week goes to adding in features that were promised at launch.

Also, apparently the clouds weren't working properly. They will now rain, which is nice.

Call Of Duty: Ghosts Gets Teeny Tiny Viney Teaser

Releasing short gameplay snippets on Vine has become very trendy these days, and Infinity Ward is the latest developer to jump on the bandwagon. A new short clip for Call Of Duty: Ghosts shows off some in-development footage ahead of its full reveal at the next-gen Xbox event tomorrow night.

Call Of Duty: Ghosts is described as a "brand new Call Of Duty experience," featuring a new storyline, characters and cross-generation engine. You can watch the spectacularly unhelpful reveal trailer here.

The Incredible Adventures Of Van Helsing - Hunter's Lair Trailer

Every great vampire hunter needs a place to kick back and unwind, far from the trials and tribulations of battling gothic horrors beyond mortal imaginings. In The Incredible Adventures Of Van Helsing, players will have access to the Hunter's Lair: a convenient hub for item stashing, quests, NPC interactions and even some tower defence mini-games from time to time. It's all in the latest trailer, which we've included after the break.

Neocore's isometric action-RPG is scheduled for a Steam release on May 22nd. We'll aim to provide a full review nearer the time.

Diablo III Gets Birthday Buff

Diablo III is celebrating its first birthday, so it's only fitting that Blizzard are handing out party bags in the form of a free buff. Players who log in between now and May 21st will receive a 25% boost to Magic Find and +EXP, which should reward veterans and perhaps convince a few lapsed fans to rejoin the fray.

More details are available on Battle.net.

Sanctum 2 Launch Trailer

Sanctum 2 launched yesterday on Steam and XBLA, and the launch trailer makes a convincing case for checking out the trial. Like its predecessor, Sanctum 2 is an FPS/Tower Defence hybrid that rewards tactics as well as twitchy reflexes, but contains "more characters, more enemies, more bosses, more levels, more weapons and more towers."

We've got the new video and a feature list after the break.

Strike Suit Zero's Oculus Rift Update Gets New Dev Diary

Arcade space sim Strike Suit Zero will soon support the Oculus Rift VR headset, as evidenced by a new developer diary from Born Ready Games. It's probably difficult to convey the peripheral vision-filling, stomach-churning, inner ear-shredding experience in a browser window, but if you're interested, we've got it after the break.

Kickstarter backers will get the Oculus Rift functionality for free when it rolls out via automatic update later this year.

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified Hands-On Preview | Not Your Regular Office Job

Platforms: PC (tested) | PS3 | Xbox 360

Developers: 2K Marin

Publishers: 2K Games

The year is 1962. The Bay of Pigs Crisis has just happened. Paranoia is rife on the US mainland as the Cold War begins to kick off, and the world is plunging into a quagmire of paranoia, secrecy, mistrust, and clandestine ops.

Only the Communists aren't the real enemy at all.

The above forms the basis for 2K Marin's tactical action title, and if it sounds eerily familiar, well that's because it is.

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified Hands-On Preview | Not Your Regular Office Job

"There wasn't a “Big Bang moment” where the [XCOM] service just came into being, so we really wanted to tell an origin story, and we really liked the idea of setting the game in 1962, just after the Bay of Pigs incident," producer Nico Bihary tells me. "So you have this global atmosphere of paranoia, it's the start of the Cold War, and set against that backdrop we have this really believable story about how XCOM could be formed.

"So we have this clandestine organisation, constructed to defend against enemy threats and covering them up, but it takes time. So we wanted to zero in on the Bureau as this organisation that really hasn't matured yet technologically or organisationally to fight off a massive alien threat, but was really established early on to be a counter-intelligence group."
