Plants vs Zombies & Loving Life With Hello Kitty Dated For DS

We've received word that two new titles are headed to the Nintendo DS - and will naturally be backwards-compatible with your shiny new 3DS. Plants vs Zombies, PopCap Games breakthrough zombie flower defence title, has been given a definitive release date... and Loving Life With Hello Kitty & Friends has been slated for later in the year. We know you're excited, and we have the full details below.

Mastertronic Games have announced that the DS version of Plants vs Zombies will be hitting UK shelves on May 6th. Citing its success on the App Store and subsequent downloadable releases, product director Neil McKenna is confident that it will flourish on Nintendo's handheld.

Plants vs. Zombies is the fastest-selling iPhone/iPod strategy game of all time, selling 300,000 copies in the first nine days it was available on the App store. With such a proven track record on a portable platform, we’re delighted to bring Plants vs. Zombies to the world’s most popular handheld gaming device, the Nintendo DS.

In other news, Bergsala Lightweight have signed a publishing deal with Rising Star Games to release Loving Life With Hello Kitty & Friends this summer. According to the press release, it's the sequel to Happy Party with Hello Kitty & Friends and promises to deliver a shopping, fashion-matching, home-decorating experience that will (we assume) be cute as all hell. Oh, and there'll be minigames. There are always minigames.

Hello Kitty is hugely recognisable worldwide and the first game was a massive hit. With our previous success with the brand it’s a delight to bring another videogame from this much loved character to the UK. Hello Kitty has such a huge following across the globe, it’s great to be able to offer UK fans another opportunity to interact with this wonderful character. - Martin Defries, Rising Star Games Managing Director
