I want to start playing Borderlands 1 as Borderlands 2 looks amazing and I want to get involved before release. But which platform will be best?

Without question, it'd be PC for me. The control system wins it for me. If it's a shooter or an RTS game, I'd take PC every time.

Another bonus for PC games is that many of them have the ability for serious life-extending modifications, so the lifespan of your game could be increased to no end. Take Skyrim as an example. It's massive on all formats, but with the modifications available for PC now and in the future, it's even bigger.

To state the obvious it depends on the platform you own, I guess.

Otherwise it would have to be PC. Easily.

Potential for true HD resolutions, better frame rates and generally better looking visuals.

You have a CHOICE of control options, that's not simply limited to a controller. I'm quite partial to a mouse and keyboard setup for FPS gaming. You can remap your controller layout if you wanted, not sure if that's a console feature either as simple as it sounds!

This time the game is working through the incredibly popular Steamworks instead of gamespy's matchmaking service which means it will have a hefty player base.

Ignore ramiuk1. Be happy with whichever platform you get it on, though purely on a technical level if you have a machine capable then the PC is easily the best choice.
I mean why play your new game in 2012 on machines who's technology dates back to 2004 or even earlier?

edit: Ooooh, not to mention you can pick it up cheaper to boot, I've got a pre-order with Tesco for around £22!

Read Digital Foundry (as part of Eurogamer). They do highly technical comparisons of games across platforms. Read their pixel-perfect comparison of Borderlands 1.

Assuming:

1. Gearbox are using the same engine (excluding any potential cross-platform improvements since BL1);
2. and you aren't a PC gamer;
3. you have the same/no friends on both PS3 and X360;

then X360 is your platform.

Look it up. Google 'Digital Foundry Borderlands comparison', and you'll see X360 generally has more pixel-perfect effects and fidelity than PS3 when it comes to cross-platform games.

Sadly I can't link it for you myself as Dealspwn generally forbids links to other sites.

what u mean ignore me.
ps3 version was really buggy on Borderlands 1,pc for better graphics and on pc version online wasn't that great due to the servers, which u have said it will have steam this time which I didn't know, should solve the player issue.

I then got for xbox and I had instant fun online with people all time,, easily finding groups of 4.
so why ignore me?

OP asked for opinions, I gave mine as have others. why not just give your results so he can decide, without rudeness.
