Today's lesson is this: don't compare Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance to Ninja Gaiden 3. Platinum Games producer Atsushi Inaba has been a busy tweeter, responding to fan reaction to the recent Revengeance E3 traile, and slamming Ninja Gaiden 3 in the process.
“It seems the game play portions of the trailer are quite popular. The ability to slice everything is a refreshing feature, and the playable cutscenes are well received too."
So far, so good.
“People have been comparing it to Ninja Gaiden, but at least Ninja Gaiden 3 was a shitty game that cannot be helped. I don’t want it to be compared to that.”
Ouch. He wasn't about to apologise either.
“Since I’m free to say my real opinions, I can be as frank as I want,” he said.
In fairness, Ninja Gaiden 3 wasn't exactly brilliant, with Itagaki's departure hurting the game quite badly. But Platinum have some big shoes to fill too, having stepped up to finish development on Revengeance. We're quietly confident that they'll deliver, mind you, being massive Platinum fanboys here on Dealspwn.
Now if only they'd announce Infinite Space 2...
