Play-Asia Cancel Erroneous MGS: Legacy Collection Pre-Orders, Issue Apology and Vouchers

A little PSA for those of you who might have taken a chance on the Play-Asia $9 listing for Metal Gear Solid: Legacy Collection: it would appear that the pricing was indeed erroneous (it was apparently supposed to be $59.99).

As such, Play-Asia have cancelled all of the orders and will be distributing refunds.

"We are sorry to inform you that due to an unfortunate mistake our company has accepted pre-orders for the European version of the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection at a selling price of USD 9.00 instead of our regular pre-order price of USD 59.90," the import store wrote. "The misquoted price was a result of human error on our end and we would like to deeply apologize for this.

"All orders containing the aforementioned product at the price of USD 9.00 will be cancelled and we're in the process of issuing full refunds to all affected customers. Please kindly note that it might take up to 5 days until the last refunds have been successfully processed."

To ease the pain, Play-Asia will be entering those who did pre-order and have had those orders cancelled into a raffle for a chance to win one of nine copies of the game, and everyone affected will get a 10% off voucher up to the value of $10.

They even issued a video apology just for good measure...

Blimey @ video apology!
Makes a nice change from the majority of companies who'd cancel such orders. Sometimes with a hastily compiled and badly worded email. Sometimes without even bothering with that.
Nice one play-asia. :D

It was clearly a misprice - nobody in their right mind was under any illusions about that - so the vouchers and prize draw are a very nice bonus for those that went for it.

Of course you'll still have a handful of eejits complaining and threatening to take play-asia to court.

fair play to em, not used the company yet myself but that shows some class and customer service, as the guy above said it was so obviously a misprice that there was no way they could honor it, but to do this instead of just cancelling them all with an email is brilliant.

Now that is the way to handle cancellations although a video message is a little OTT.

Now, why did they have to get someone who can't stop gesticulating to do this video?

I felt like I was watching late night BBC2 for the deaf with a guy performing sign language.


Still think what they did was great!
