Nearly three billion Dollars' worth of bacon, in fact. During the last financial quarter.
Sony have revealed their latest financial figures for the quarter ending December 31st, which make for a fascinating read if you're into that sort of thing. While the company as a whole is forecast an annual net loss once again as many of their divisions are haemorrhaging money, their Game & Network Services division is putting in a shift and pulling in some seriously impressive numbers.
PlayStation and the rest of the Game & Network Services Division brought in revenue of $2.9 billion. This is partly due to strong sales of the PS4 (6.4 million during the quarter, up from 4.5 million), which has also lead to a sharp uptake of PlayStation + subscriptions. It all adds up!
Naturally the PS3 is in decline, and Vita/PlayStation TV is still tanking. Selling Sony Online Entertainment helped round up the numbers though.
All in all, good news for Sony. Sales up 6.5% and operating income of £153m. Sadly they're still on course to post an overall loss at the end of the year, but it will be interesting to see how much more of their company they shed and streamline in order to get back into the black.
