PlayStation Store Summer Sale Update: MGS For £3.99

The PlayStation Store Summer Sale has been expanded with several new PS3 titles today, as well as a couple of Vita games. The standout bargains include the original Metal Gear Solid for £3.99, which is still a peerless work of interactive fiction as well as a damn fine game, and Shoot Many Robots for the same price. PS Vita slingshot puzzler Stardrone Extreme is also eminently affordable at £1.99.

Shame MGS 1 wasn't given a HD upgrade.

Gosh, wouldn't that be grand? Right with you - but the problem is that PS1 games have to be completely rebuilt from the ground up to offer HD visuals. You'll rarely see publishers taking that sort of expense, as an example, both the Silent Hill and MGS HD collections completely ignore the PS1 originals.

If you've still got a Gamecube and you're a big MGS fan, you might want to try and find a copy of Twin Snakes.

Good call.

I've been playing MGS1 on my PS3 (via the original PS1 discs) and it actually looks pretty good, especially if you have upscaling and smoothing turned on. And of course it's an excellent game, probably the best in the series. I'll probably download it as well if it stays at that price when Sony finally sort out PS1 originals for Vita.
