The PlayStation Suite has enterted the open beta phase, allowing developers to create and test games for PS Vita and compatible Android devices using a single program. The SDK is currently free to download and use, though once the beta's over, developers will need to sign a contract to agree to distribute games and apps through the PlayStation Store.
Make no mistake: this is a seriously big deal. Indie development is becoming more important with each passing year, and Sony has repeatedly stated their interest in muscling into the arena. Now that developers can use a single suite to create games for multiple Sony devices, we could well see a mobile independent revolution - and potentially see many disgruntled Xbox Live Indie developers decide to jump ship. Plus, hell, the Vita could do with some more games. For now, we'll wait and see.
