Polytron Acknowledge FEZ Bugs, Working On Patch

The first twenty-four hours following FEZ's birth seem to have been littered with bug reports and crash complaints, and developers Polytron have acknowledged the issues and are beavering away at working on a patch for the Xbox 360 exclusive alongside Microsoft.

"FEZ had more testing done in the past 24 hours by about TWENTY THOUSAND PEOPLE (!!) than it had in five years," wrote the dev team on their site. "So, as it happens, bugs popped up. Some pretty serious."

Serious indeed. Some of the bugs already reported have include the event that "a small subset of older Xboxes with smaller hard drives can’t run the game at all"; additionally, "the game has trouble running off a USB stick. Crashes are occurring in specific levels or situations. In a rare situation (exiting the game from the “wall village” interiors), the save file becomes unusable. Nasty stuff."

Whilst we at Dealspwn are yet to encounter a game-breaking crash just yet, we do know one or two people who have, and Polytron are asking that if anyone does experience technical difficulties, popping an email along to [email protected] would be of great help.

From what I understand, Polytron has 2 employees... what, are they angling for prime jobs at Activision? Release a game lots of people find unplayable on day 1?!

This is a shame as indie games do not usually suffer this level of "release on a deadline" and that is one of the things I love about the indie scene.
