Portal 2 | £5.09 | Steam | PC & Mac

Steam's midweek madness deal is thoroughly delicious. I'm being so sincere right now. Just over a fiver for Portal 2 has got to be worth paying if you haven't yet checked out this sensational puzzler, widely heralded as one of 2011's best games.

Note that you can also get the original Portal for £2.37, a double pack for £6.11, or two copies of Portal 2 for £8.49. Cheap as chips. Thanks to gambe1984 at HotUKDeals.

Portal 2 | £12.99 | Play.com | PS3/Xbox 360

Portal 2 was one of the finest games to emerge last year, sweeping a huge number of Game of the Year Awards, and walking off with three BAFTAS last week, including Best Game. A fully-fledged title, it had some fantastic level design, brilliant voice work, and incredible writing, and Play have just dropped their prices for the console versions down by a couple of quid to £12.99. Purchase with supreme confidence.

A game that made a number of GOTY 2011 lists, Portal 2 is a masterclass in first-person puzzle platforming. Zavvi's got the cheapest price online for the console versions by a quid or so, but Steam is offering the game for under a fiver on PC if that's more appealing. It's also part of Morrisons' £5 January sale, but good luck finding a copy instore.

If you have you to return to the experimental world of Aperture Science, this offer from play will save you £6 over the next cheapest deal available. It’s also at the lowest price point yet for console gamers, which is good news for all.

What else can be said? It’s worth every penny (and probably more) as it builds on the original’s premise by expanding the story, and gives you more puzzles to get your brain working over. Additionally, PS3 owners get a free PC copy thanks to Steamworks so you have the choice of where to play. It also gives us more GlaDOS, which is always nice. Thanks to danhufc @ HUKD!

Portal 2 | £18.99 | Dixons | PS3

We highlighted this deal from Dixons just under a month ago, but it is still the best offer for the First Person Puzzler. This deal will ensure you save yourself £4 over the next cheapest retailer over at The Game Collection.

Portal 2 | £18.99 | Dixons | PS3

Are you a PS3 owner who feels a little left out after yesterday’s cracking deal for Portal 2? Well Dixons and their deal should turn that frown upside down, as Playstation owners can now get the First Person Puzzler for a sub-£20 price as well. There's also a saving of almost a fiver in comparison to the next best offer over at The Hut and Zavvi.

It has taken a little while, but Valve’s First Person Puzzler has fallen below the magic £20 mark for Xbox 360 owners. Thanks to a price match by Amazon, you can choose to get it from them or Gamestation, and save yourself almost £4 in the process.

Portal 2 | £9.99 | Steam | PC

Portal 2's easily one of the best games I've played this year and it's packed full of puzzles for you to solve, which brings a nice change from games where you can get away with simply pointing a gun and shooting everything in sight. Once you've finished the sublime single player campaign, you can jump into the outstanding co-op with a friend. Steam have dropped their price for the game down to £9.99 for the next few days, which'll make you a saving of almost £7 on the next best offer coming in from ShopTo.

This is a fantastic little game to add to your collection if you're looking for a bit of variety, especially if you want a break from shooting everything in sight. You'll need to take your time and look around the puzzle rooms that you're thrown into in order to figure out how to solve them, and some of them aren't as easier as you'd think. Zavvi are parting with copies of the game for £12.85, which'll make you a saving of over £4 on the next best offer coming in from HMV.

  • What: Every game Valve has ever made!
  • Where: Steam
  • Current Price: £24.99
  • Saving: Ridiculous

Twenty five quid doesn't necessarily buy you a lot of game these days... but thanks to the Steam Summer Sale, it will buy you every game Valve has ever made, plus expansions.

I paid that much for the Orange Box alone. And it was still worth it.

Just in case you don't already feel the urge to cough up the £25, here's a few games to get you going: Portal, Portal 2, Half Life 2, Half Life, Left 4 Dead... and every expansion pack. Considering that Portal 2 is £14 by itself, this has to be worth a punt.
