What type of game is The Forgotten Sands exactly? It's a game, based on a movie, which itself is based on a game. It's a videogame-film game tie-in. Catchy titles aside, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands can be nabbed off The Game Collection for just £29.95!

This is the cheapest offer around currently, but with only 62 in stock, I advise you move swiftly, and not ponder over the quality of a videogame film game tie-in. Matt recently reviewed The Forgotten Sands, and quite enjoyed the Sands of Time-vibe and gorgeous locales.
Despite being released alongside the imminent Prince of Persia film, The Forgotten Sands is in fact a sequel to the original Sands of Time and a prequel to Warrior Within. Understand? The Prince, fashioned somewhere between the original Prince and Gyllenhaal's likeness, returns to visit his brother, only to find his kingdom overrun by a demonic army.
Armed with his ever-trusty Dagger of Time, a weapon capable of reversing catastrophic events or unexpected flatulence, the Prince sets off to banish this demonic force and discover how they came to be summoned. He soon obtains the ability to command the elements, which comes in handy when traversing the crumbling ruins of the Kingdom. The Prince can freeze water spurting from a wall and swing from each frozen arm to reach a ledge, for example.
Overall, The Forgotten Sands seems to have sidestepped the usual film tie-in problems, but lacks the charm and polish of its blockbuster counterpart. If you're in the market for a decent platformer, or are an ardent PoP fan, then for this price you can't go wrong!
