The legend that is Tod McFarlane, one of the big names snapped up by 38 Studios to work on Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and the follow-up Amalur MMO - Project Copernicus - has revealed that the latter was very close to being completed when 38 Studios went under, hoping that someone might snap it up "once the dust has settled".
“I’m hoping that once the dust settles maybe somebody will be smart enough to come in there and then just take it to the finish line,” McFarlane told Kotaku at this year's Toy Fair.
“It’s only ten yards away from the goal line. Curt [Schilling] got it 90 yards. If somebody wants to take it the other ten yards they’re going to have a hell of a game on their hands.”
McFarlane went on to say that if he had “the extra cash” he'd try and get the project finished because Copernicus is “that cool”.
“We came up with Reckoning, which was the console game but the big one – yeah, that was the super sexy. That was the one that to me was gonna raise the bar,” he said.
