PS Vita Hits Japan This December

Launch Line-Up, Battery Life Revealed

Over in Japan, Sony has been shedding further light on its exciting new portable, the PS Vita, at the annual Tokyo Game Show. First off, they've announced the Vita will launch first in Japan - as per usual - on December the 17th, where it will cost ¥24,980 for the standard wi-fi model and ¥29,980 for the 3G-equipped variant. 26 titles will launch alongside the Vita on the 17th, including Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3. Furthermore, the likes of Metal Gear Solid and Zone of the Enders HD Collection and Final Fantasy X have been announced for the Vita, further strengthening its roster of games.

Of the Vita's 26 launch titles, six will only be available from the Playstation Store: Little Deviants, Minnato Issho, 3gokushi touchbattle, Project N.O.E.L.S., Yuusha no kiroku and Niconico. Furthermore, the recently announced Metal Gear Solid and Zone of the Enders HD Collections have been announced for the PS Vita, and will launch in 2012 at an unspecified date. Hideo Kojima himself also revealed he's hard at work on a mystery Vita title, but cautioned it would be a while before a reveal of any sorts.

But wait, there's more! The Playstation 2 JRPG, Final Fantasy X, is set to make a return on the PS Vita and Playstation 3 in 2012. Square also have two further titles in development for Sony's portable, action-RPG Lord of Apocalypse and Army Corps of Hell.

But how long can you expect to be playing these games for? Well, sadly, the Vita's battery is about on par with the 3DS. It offers 3 to 5 hours of battery life when playing games, or five hours exactly for video playback and nine for music, as long as its in standby mode then. It will take around two hours and forty minutes to charge the battery from empty to full.
