PS3 Battlefield 3 Will Not Ship With Battlefield 1943

Promises, Promises

Back at E3, Sony and EA promised that the PS3 version of Battlefield 3 would ship with a free copy of Battlefield 1943: the exceptionally well-reviewed downloadable multiplayer shooter. But it won't. EA has since confirmed that this simply isn't happening... and that PS3 owners will receive the Back To Karkand DLC pack a week early to make up for it. However, since the timed-exclusive DLC has always been the plan, it isn't exactly much comfort.

To be honest, I don't think that too many people will be disappointed (being that most gamers will be buying Battlefield 3 for its multiplayer suite, and many will favour the PC version's expanded multiplayer over the PS3 freebie). Still, let us know if we've ruined your day.

Yeah would have been nice to get that. I only had a demo. I do like when they give the PS3 versions a little extra, I suppose it could sway those multi console users, but achievements seem to be the bigger pull

They decided to withhold this news until all pre-orders have been sent out? I wonder why they did that?

DLC a week early for PS3 users to compensate? That must make everyone feel better because they now have the option to give EA their money a week early rather than receiving a second game with their purchase.

As for the people who don't buy DLC maps, why care about them anyway? If they're too stingy to hand over their money to EA for some over-priced remake of old maps, they don't deserve any attention anyway, right?

People who has pre-ordered and will probably be receiving the Limited Edition which includes the maps anyway? No point compensating them either, since EA's probably already got their money at this point.

Surely this is unacceptable? I wonder if this was already decided when they made the initial announcement? Is this the idea of the same guy who decided to go through a selection process to select which reviewers should be allowed to review the game early? Remind me to not deal with such a disgusting company in the future.
