PS3 Dual Shock 3 Wireless Controller £26.99 @ Carphone Warehouse [PS3 Games]

Although it's probably the last place you'd expect to find a bargain price on PS3 Dual Shock 3 wireless controllers, believe it or not, they are currently going for £26.99 at the Carphone Warehouse. It's true that Xbox 360 owners still continue to enjoy much lower rates for their wireless game pads (360 Wireless Elites are currently going for £17.73 from the Hut) but this is still a very decent price. One of these PS3 Dual Shocks would normally set you back £33.43 on Amazon, and you'd be lucky to get hold of an old Siaxis controller for under £25.

This controller claims to have a very refined vibration system. Although I am someone who has always found vibration systems a bit annoying – especially during those massive Metal Gear Solid 2 cut scenes where it would start unexpectedly rumbling – this is one which, by all accounts, nicely compliments your gaming experience. One extremely enthusiastic customer stated that while playing a demo of Race Driver: Grid with their new Dual Shock controller 'it finally felt like I was sitting in that car.' Although that may be a slight exaggeration, it is fair to say that the Dual Shock 3 transmits every bump, scrape and slide with enough consistency to take the experience to new heights of realism.

There are a few extra features regarding the Dual Shock 3 besides the obvious increase in vibration support. The texture of the plastic means it has very good grip even when the thing is covered in sweat. The R2 and L2 buttons have been made slightly more difficult to push in, which, although to the liking of some players, left a few feeling disappointed they were not more trigger like. The analogue sticks on the other hand are much more sensitive and easy to press. It's fair to say that to get a better all- round experience from your PS3, one of these Dualshock 3s is a wise investment.
