Sony has confirmed that a major new PlayStation 3 firmware update, version 4.00, will be arriving this week. It's primarily designed to prepare the system for the PS Vita, allowing your home console to act as a content sharing device for games, music, pictures and video. You'll also be able to back up your downloadable Vita library.
Other feature include:
- PlayStation Plus members can now choose to enable or disable each automatic update feature
- Game patches
- System software
- Recommended games and videos
- Sync trophy information
- New PlayStation Network settings for filtering friend requests and messages
I would assume that beefy security updates also come as standard.
