PS4 Will Not Support Bluetooth Headsets

Sony has confirmed that current Bluetooth headsets cannot be used for PS4 voice chat, while even official PULSE headsets will require a post-launch patch before they actually work.

Game Informer got the scoop from a Sony representative, who confirmed that all current Bluetooth headsets are incompatible with the PS4. Sony's own PULSE headsets won't work at all at launch, pending a firmware update, while most USB headsets will also be useless until a patch is released down the line. Digital optical headsets will function for audio, but not for chat.

It's tempting to suggest that this move is a bit of a transparent cash grab, but at least a mono headset is included with all new consoles. The Xbox One is taking a similar tack, with Microsoft also promising to look into third-party headset support.

Thoughts?

Wait, what? So what headsets do work at launch? Just the garbage little mono one?

At launch... yeah, basically.

EDIT: If you have a decent set of digital optical headphones, I suppose you could put on the mono headset underneath?

I've gone for the Turtle Beach P4c that is still £15.97 at Gamestop. They plug into the DS4.

I shelled out about £80 for the official Sony ones for PS3 when they first came out - this is annoying!
