It's taken a little longer than expected, but the Playstation Network will be "fully restored" by the end of the week, according to Sony. This includes restoration of service in the Americas, Europe, PAL regions and Asia within five days. However, this deadline excludes Japan, Hong Kong and South Korea.
Returning services include complete Playstation Store functionality - from where you can download your two free games as part of Sony's Welcome Back initiative - in-game commerce; ability to redeem vouchers and codes; the return of Music Unlimited; and full functionality of Media Go.
With the service back up and running within a week, it'll be interesting to see the community's reception to the service. Will they return in their droves, bygones be bygones? Or has the last month and a half of zero PSN service resulted in an exodus of sorts. I, myself, know quite a few former PS3 owners who've since picked up 360s in the wake of the crash. [Eurogamer]
