Microsoft Pulled Plans For Price Drop Announcement

After Sony’s announcement at GamesCom of a PS3 Slim coupled with a price drop, all eyes were on Microsoft for their very own price drop announcement. Microsoft of course didn’t deliver, but according to sources, Microsoft had plans pulled at the very last minute.

Apparently Microsoft intended to announce a price cut for the Xbox 360 Elite, which would then take the place of the Pro model. But according to one electronics retailer, Microsoft decided to delay the announcement to allow more time for the Arcade and Elite to clear up from the shelves. This would suggest an announcement is imminent so keep your eyes peeled and ears open.  [MCVUK]

An interview with Final Fantasy 13 producer Yoshinori Kitase at GamesCom revealed more details on how the game is currently progressing. He estimated the Xbox 360 version is 70% done, and while the game is up and running the debugging processes has yet to begin.

Kitase also confirmed the English version of the game is moving along nicely, with all voice acting completed. The Japanese PS3 version of FF13 is sitting around 90%, so the last few tweaks are just being made. Hopefully everything will be completed in time for release next spring.  [1UP]

Jak May Appear On PS3

From Pulled Price Drops To Wossy: News Roundup August 20th

Naughty Dog has expressed interest in a Jak game for the current generation of consoles. Fans have been badgering them for a new game ever since Jak X: Combat Racing and it may just look like they’ve finally give in.

We definitely hear a lot from our Jak fans and we'd love to be able to be working on a new Jak product at some point,” said community manager Arne Meyer. “That might be on the cards, we'd like to work on [a PS3 game].” Naughty Dog is currently focused on Uncharted, but for those wanting some Jak action Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier on the PS2 and PSP will tide you over.  [EuroGamer]

Jonathan Ross To Feature In Fable III

From Pulled Price Drops To Wossy: News Roundup August 20th

Following the announcement of Fable III, Jonathon Ross has confirmed he will be featuring in the game, albeit rather briefly. Wossy tweeted “Fable III officially [sic] announced so I can now reveal I play Barry, a junior accountant needed in one of the quests.” Hardly the biggest role in the world, but it will be interesting to see if they will incorporate his likeness as well as his voice.  [IncGamers]
