PWNCAST | Season 1: Episode 11 – Shooting Gallery

Are There Too Many Shooters?

This week it's all about shooters, especially the FPS genre. With Crysis 3 out of the bag, and the embargoes all behind us, we wax lyrical about some of our favourite shooters and ask if there are too many of them today. Are shooters really ruining the industry? Is the FPS taking over the world? Are all games destined to become COD clones? We beg for a return for TimeSplitters, lament the loss of Battlefront 3, talk about how a social basketball game can be really anti-social, and Jon gets very, very ranty indeed. Enjoy!

PWNCAST | Season 1: Episode 11, Recorded: April 27th, 2012

Some of the things that get covered this week:

  • PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
  • NBA Baller Beats
  • Next-gen costs
  • Resistance: Burning Skies
  • Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
  • Crysis 3
  • Are there too many shooters?
  • Is the FPS genre oversaturated?
  • Is shooter fatigue an actual thing?
  • What shooter franchises we'd like to see return

...and much, much more.

Ha, that did come off as a bit ranty, but I think my tirade is justified. If you genuinely believe that there are "too many First Person Shooters" on the market and a dearth of anything else, just click on our reviews button and take a look at the wealth of exciting genres out there. Not an FPS in sight, and so many great games to indulge in.

Guys,

For future episodes would it be possible to set the correct date when you add the podcasts to feedburner, as my android podcast app fails to notify me of any new episodes. I guess this is the cause.

Keep up the good work!
