PWNCAST | Season 1: Episode 14 – Mature Gaming

This week, after rummaging around a couple of rumours from the week just gone, we take a look at maturity in games, and ask if adults are being short-changed. We look at how the industry often panders not only to teenagers, but to the lowest cultural denominators, how money and the bottom line have fuelled an unbalanced demographic. Fianlly, we look at David Cage's suggestions that gaming really hasn't evolved much over the last couple of decades, and ask what this means for next-gen.

PWNCAST | Season 1: Episode 14, Recorded: May 17th, 2012

Some of the things that get covered this week:

  • Gravity Rush
  • RUMOUR: Sony and Cloud Gaming
  • RUMOUR: LucasArts' unannounced title
  • The Ninja Button
  • Are games ruining male youths?
  • Are adults being shortchanged?
  • How the VGAs are ruining everything
  • Irresponsible marketing
  • How far has gaming actually come?

...and much, much more.

I listened to a few pwncasts this weekend whilst out in th garden cause I got bored of music. Have to say VERY good! I found myself thinking about the debates and laughing along with you...no interest in Diablo 3 but I listened intently. Only thing I'd say is sometimes its like it starts mid way through as it just jumps into mid conversation, then you gear the poscast music (which again I like) don't know if this is an iTunes issue though?

Cheers ODB, glad you're enjoying them.

We tend to have a snippet of conversation, usually something humorous or something that perhaps didn't quite fit into the main podcast body as an intro, before launching in with the music and kicking things off properly.

For what it's worth, this is my favourite, mainly for Jon's amazing Nero rendition: http://www.dealspwn.com/pwncast-season-1-episode-9-naked-gun-98841

Yes I listened to that, very good!

Also don't know why but all podcasts seem to be dated 1st Jan 1970???

Found this browsing through iTunes by chance. Listened to 5 in a row over the weekend. Really good stuff. I like how natural it is, it doesn't sound like you guys are putting it on even if sometimes (I'm assuming) Matt you try to push the conversation forward. But I like the balance. Very funny but thought provoking in places too, especially this one in particular. Keep up the good work chaps, loving it!!

Sorry, hate to disagree but the Zune/Metro rant in episode 8 had to be the best by far. Listened to new one too which was very good and agree about female character thing but the rant had me in stitches
