We're big fans of Quantic Dream and their murder-mystery titles here at Dealspwn. So when word flies in of their possible next game, we waste no time in bringing it to your attention! And we have internet-sleuth SuperAnnuation to thank once again, having caught wind of Sony registering domains and trademarks for a mysterious title codenamed Fiv5.
Quantic Dream, and director David Cage in particular, are a very cagey bunch. Heavy Rain's story was veiled in intense secrecy before its release last year, and the studio even went so far as to fake casting sessions for Horizon, a game the French outfit were supposedly working on. As such, it's crucial we analyze this carefully. SuperAnnuation has found LinkedIn profiles for Quantic Dream staff that mention Fiv5, domain registrations for the game and even a trademark application courtesy of Sony.
Whether Fiv5 is in fact Quantic Dream's next title, or if Cage and co are at it once again spinning an elaborate red-herring hoax is unclear. What is clear, however, is a continuation of the sort of 'Interactive Drama' patented by the likes of Heavy Rain and Fahrenheit. Cage has spoken at length about his love for this particular genre, but insisted "we will not make a sequel", when mentioning Heavy Rain.
E3 is just around the corner, and you can bet Sony - like Microsoft and Nintendo - is readying its arsenal of blockbuster announcements to wow the assembled crowds. So we might be seeing Fiv5 sooner rather than later. [SuperAnnuation]
