Sylvester Stallone is planning on prolonging his already artificially-lengthened lifespan by relocating to videogames, where his virtual form can continue to wreak justified havoc whilst mumbling incomprehensible threats. That's right; Rambo is on his way to consoles, courtesy of Reef Entertainment in conjunction with publishers Creative Distribution, having nabbed the rights from StudioCanal.
"I am a big fan of Sylvester Stallone movies," Reef CEO Peter Rezon told MCV, "and when we had the opportunity to secure the video game rights from StudioCanal for the Rambo franchise, we had to grab it with both hands." But if you're expecting a scaled down, cautious venture into Rambo territory, forget it; Reef have big plans.
"Rambo will be a triple-A title on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC and will capture the gritty atmosphere and full-on action which made the Rambo movies so successful," claims commercial director Craig Lewis. "We have big ambitions for Reef and the Rambo IP is the first step in establishing us as a worldwide player."
We have to admit, we're pretty excited about this here at Dealspwn. Rambo: First Blood on the Spectrum is a cult-classic, and if Reef can channel any of Stallone's bloody-minded, fearless mercenary into a worthwhile game, we'll be very happy, indeed. [MCV]
