Rare Job Listings Point Towards "Jaw-Dropping", Next-Gen Kinect Project

"Jaw-dropping Kinect project" might seem like something of a contradiction in terms, but Rare seem to have made it their mission to try and strive for such a thing. Unless of course it's a reboot of Killer Instinct that will incorporate motion control in a manner that works smoothly and consistently. Frankly, a motion control game that proves consistent would be enough to blow our minds at this stage.But I digress, OXM spotted a number of job listings posted up by Rare sketching a very vague picture of some upcoming shenanigans happening at Twycross. A job posting for ‘Principal Network Services Engineer’ mentions a continuation of Rare's focus on Kinect, but now with added Cloud features:

“Following on from the success of ‘Kinect Sports’ and its recent sequel ‘Kinect Sports: Season Two’, Rare is continuing to push the boundaries of the Kinect hardware with our exciting new project. We’re looking for an experienced and passionate engineer to join us on this journey.

“This role will involve you working as part of the Cloud Services engineering team in order to develop and deliver Cloud Services for our current and future products. As part of your role, you will be required to work closely with Artists, Designers, Producers and Program Managers.

“As a Principal, you may also be expected to undertake some elements of leadership including mentoring other engineers and helping drive the direction of Cloud Services in our future titles.”

Cloud services are mentioned a lot there, and even more so when it comes to the job requirements, which suggest that applicants will "deliver cloud services that support gameplay, data sharing and title instrumentation, work closely with design in order to define ambitious cloud services within our upcoming titles.”

There's another job listing worth noting as well, with the hunt for a "Gameplay Engineer" talking about "working with extremely early prototype hardware co-developed with teams located off-site,” which rather sounds like the Xbox 720/Nextbox/Sexbox to us.

Apparently "Rare is still trailblazing showcase experiences and championing evolution in entertainment" (we'll leave that for you to decide whether that's actually the case), and that the successful applicant will find themselves as "part of a pioneering team dedicated to the next jaw-dropping, never-been-done-before Rare project".

Curious indeed. Killer Instinct would be great Rare, just saying. If it's a Conker game where I have to insert things into my bottom, then no dice.
