Rare To Reveal "Historic IP" For Xbox One At E3

Rare are planning to bring one of their classic franchises into the next-generation.

Microsoft Studios corporate vice president Phil Spencer coyly dropped a few hints to Polygon after last night's Xbox One reveal.

"Fans of Rare and Rare IP I think will be pleased with what we're going to show at E3," he said. "We had a limited amount of time today and a lot of story to tell. But Rare remains an incredibly important part of our development capability.

"That historic IP that they've built I think can play a real important role on Xbox One."

Place your bets now, ladies and gentlemen. The smart money's on Killer Instinct, but with Banjo-Kazooie and Conker to choose from, they could be working on some sort of Kinect-enabled crossover. They kicked off this generation with Perfect Dark Zero, so there's nowhere to go but up.

We'll find out what they're up to in three weeks' time.

Given they haven't done anything of note, or at least positive note in the entire outgoing gen - does anyone care? (Didn't they recently file to keep the KI brand or whatever legal doctrine it is..?)

Killer Instinct would be a heavy contender in the upcoming console competition. Plus it would be awesome on several levels and potentially sway preferences to Microsoft's upcoming entertainment box.

Killer Instinct would be enough to tempt me into getting one.
Loved that game as a kid and I still do.

Killer Instinct would be the best way to go for them but I'm not particularly interested in Rare these days anyway.
