Anyone, anyone who played Rayman Origins on a PlayStation Vita will tell you how gorgeous it looked, how sumptuous those hand-crafted visuals were, and how Ubisoft's premier platformer popped on that OLED screen, nestled in your hands, on the go, on the loo, it didn't matter.
It was brilliant.
So we've rather been looking forward to Rayman Legends on Vita, not least for the bespoke touch controls that the portable console will enable. But bad news, sports fans... it's been delayed.
The home console version of the game is already out in the US, indeed you can play Legends currently on PC, PlayStation 3, Wii U and Xbox 360, with us Europeans getting it on August 30th.
However, PocketGamer reports that the PS Vita edition will slip back to September 13th. According to the site, an Ubisoft rep stated that the delay came about “in order to apply the final level of polish gamers expect from a Rayman game”.
There will, however, be five extra maps, the aforementioned touch controls, and a couple of new costumes to throw into the mix on Vita.
We gave Rayman Legends a coveted 10/10 in our review, delivering the following verdict:
It's effortlessly charming, fiendishly challenging, mechanically sublime, and stuffed with enough content to keep us coming back for more long into the winter months. It's a blast solo or with friends, whether you're playing together directly, or trying to best one another's scores in asynchronous fashion in the challenges. Put simply, Rayman Legends isn't just one of the best platformers we've seen in twenty years, but one of the very best games. Absolutely stunning.
Put it on the list and prepare to get involved.
