Recruits (Alpha) | Pay What You Want | IndieGameStand | PC
  • What: Recruits (Alpha and lifetime updates)
  • Where: IndieGameStand
  • Current Price: Pay What You Want ($1 minimum)

If you're hankering for a spiritual follow-up to Cannon Fodder and have played Pineapple Smash Crew to death, Recruits might well float your boat. This squad shooter may currently be in alpha, but you'll get continual updates right up until it becomes the full release build. Expect bugs and general weirdness as Commotion Games continue development, but by the looks of things, Recruits could well be a serious contender. $1 is a small price for getting in on the ground floor.

UPDATE: X10 reminds us that the $1 minimum price is only if you want to secure a Desura key - otherwise you can grab Recruits for as low as 25 cents. However, if you can spare some more, I'm sure the hard-working devs and charities would be grateful... #guilttrip

Actually, it's only $0.25 minimum. The $1 target is if you want a Desura key.
I got McDroid based on the posting here and also ended up getting P3 Biotic a few days later when that came on.
Really like these little indie games, and better value than an Android game.

Yeah, IGS has really come into its own, and I'm impressed that the updates work well. Email notifications make patching pretty simple (McDroid is already coming along nicely).

I've tweaked the post with your feedback, thanks X10.

Yeah, IGS is pretty great I think: I find the website simple to use; I don't get spammed by any marketing; updates are easy to download and install and their communication is very concise.
Their only drawback at the moment I can see is that they don't have enough marketing out about who they are and what they do (granted they haven't been going very long), so every little helps-I tell everyone I know about IGS whenever I see a potentially excellent game.

As far as I know, all the games on Indie Game Stand are a $0.25 minimum and $1.00 for Desura key. The rest after that is usually beat the average for bonus content and Steam keys.

By the way, "Space Pirates and Zombies" is out today on IGS - you should check it out!
