REPORT: Is 2K Marin's XCOM Now A 3rd Person SOCOM-esque Game?

Some screenshots purportedly from a marketing survey have arisen that suggest 2K Marin's XCOM - you know, the other game that was original destined to be a tactical FPS before sinking without a trace - may have changed form, with the images hinting towards a third-person tactical shooter, not unlike SOCOM.

According to Kotaku, the survey maintained that "it is being developed by the same people who created BioShock 2", meaning that if true 2K Marin are still at the helm, but that also those taking the survey were told that "the game would be for PS3 and Xbox 360 (with no mention of PC), and are being asked how they'd feel if it was made available as a $30 downloadable title, as opposed to a $60 retail game".

A follow-up check with 2K led to a rather curt and familiar statement: "We have not made any new announcements regarding the XCOM title currently in development at 2K Marin, and it is our policy not to comment on rumours or speculation," the publisher said.

So nothing confirmed as yet; still, with excitement levels at maximum for Firaxis' take on the franchise, it could be way for 2K to cut their losses on a game that didn't receive the warmest of receptions when it was first unveiled.
