Report: Diablo III Client Yields PvP Details

4v4 Deathmatches & Reward Tokens

The dedicated folk over at Diablo Fans have datamined deep into Diablo III's client and emerged with some interesting nuggets of information regarding PvP reward tokens and arenas.

According to their extracted data, PvP players will receive Reward Tokens for participating in deathmatch battles, which can be exchanged for rare items via a new NPC (Gryffith the Warmaster) in Tristram's Slaughtered Calf Inn. Players will also be rewarded with gold, XP and loot.

Here's an exerpt: “PVPVendorDescript - Spend tokens to get fat loots! Spend tokens to get fat loots! Spend tokens to get fat loots! Spend tokens to get fat loots! Spend tokens to get fat loots! Spend tokens to get fat loots! Spend tokens to get fat loots! Spend tokens to get fat loots!”

Yeah, you get the idea.

The data also suggests that rounds will last approximately ten minutes in a 4 vs 4 format. Five PvP arenas - Bastion’s Forge, The Fetid Pools, Leroic’s Garden, Pit of the Condemned and the Altar of Courage - have potentially been discovered.

Blizzard is remaining characteristically silent about the new info, though it's looking increasingly likely that PvP functionality will be added in early 2013 via patch 1.1. Whether this intel is accurate or based on dated code remains to be seen.
