Nintendo talisman and industry legend, Shigeru Miyamoto has reportedly suggested that Nintendo may well unveil an incarnation of Mario bound for Wii U at this year's E3.
According to Spanish newspaper El Mundo, "the creator anticipates that at E3 [...] Nintendo will launch a new Super Mario for this platform, which will combine the TV screen with the remote".
"I'm working on several projects," Miyamoto told the paper, "but I don't think I can speak about all of them. [laughs] Some are small but important projects for Wii U, there's also a new Pikmin, which will take advantage of the console's high-definition graphics, and a Luigi's Mansion for 3DS", the latter of which has been confirmed. In fact, you can read our Luigi's Mansion 3DS preview here.
Miyamoto also said that he'd like to revisit Wii Music at some point, lamenting the sales thus far, but suggesting that the game's mechanics could be incorporated into other projects.
"It is always sad when sales come in under expectations," he said. These negative experiences can sometimes be a little like a stuck thorn, so we usually try to develop the best idea, or at least take it up and approach it from an angle different for use in another title." [via NeoGAF]
