It would appear that Ninja Theory are looking for a little assistance in making sure that their aesthetically striking, narrative-driven revamp of the Devil May Cry series fits in with the series' legacy. To do this, it's been reported that the studio are inviting some prominent members of the Devil May Cry hardcore gaming community to go and playtest the game.
A report found on NeoGAF suggests that emails were sent out by a Ninja Theory employee basically looking for some rather elite focus testing. Here's the main body of the email:
I’m part of the team currently developing the new Devil May Cry title at Ninja Theory and I wanted to get in touch to see if you’d like to come in and play the game. Essentially I’m inviting in a very select few really top end DMC players to come and play through a section of the game and talk to some of our team about your experience.
We’ll pay for travel to and from the studio and will also provide lunch.
Let me know if this sounds of interest and I can give you some more details.
Ninja Theory's DmC has been under fire since the first glimpses emerged last year, with the initial trailer showing a a much younger Dante. They've been inordinately quiet at the big events this year, though, with few opportunities to nab a look at the game at E3 or Gamescom.
Still, hopefully this is a good sign and it never hurts to turn critical communities into allies, which is surely what Ninja Theory will be hoping for from this.
