FarSight Studios, the developers behind The Pinball Arcade, have revealed that Microsoft will allow indies to self-publish on Xbox 360 as early as next month.
The message came via a newsletter from FarSight, explaining the difficulties that the studio had experienced in trying to get The Pinball Arcade onto XBLA.
"Microsoft has just announced that indie developers (like FarSight) can now self-publish on Xbox Live Arcade instead of being required to find publishers for their games," the newsletter reads [via Polygon]. "This means we can bring The Pinball Arcade back to the 360 ourselves, and also opens the door to an Xbox One version of The Pinball Arcade in the future!"
The Pinball Arcade had originally been published on XBLA thanks to an arrangement with publishers Crave Entertainment, but after Crave went under Microsoft revoked the game's publishing license.
According to the newsletter, FarSight say that the new self-publishing program will start in August. Microsoft have also pointed towards August for new info, saying that they'll be announcing something on the matter at Gamescom.
