Report: Half Of UK Launch Vitas Sold Through GAME Stores

“Sony Owes GAME A Lot"

A new report suggests that GAME may finally some some good news to brighten up a worryingly gloomy few weeks. MCV's insider info states that nearly 50% of all Vitas bought at launch were purchased in a GAME or Gamestation store, possibly due to the peace of mind and aftercare you'll receive from a high street retailer as opposed to an online vendor. An unnamed publishing executive informed the trade mag that "as much as the world wants to bash GAME at the moment, you can’t escape the fact that if you’re launching new hardware or a big game there’s no better launch partner." MCV's source also suggests that Sony owes a lot to GAME for making the Vita launch a success, and reckons that "other publishers would do well to recognise this."

Having said that, we still don't know exactly how many Vita consoles were actually sold at launch (current unverified analyst projections hover around the 45,500-61,000 level), so we're not sure how much of a financial boost it will be in the long run.

I bought mine form Gamestation as I had a load of credit from trad-ins and I would never buy software there as it is so ridiculously over priced.

The only place to spend it is on hardware and even then the deals were terrible compared to other places. It's a real shame but some of this is due to the general short term way the place has been run.

I needed to shift my £400 of credit quickly as sadly I don't think they will be around for the next gen platform release.

People may say that it is attitudes like this that are sealing the coffin, but unfortunately Game and Gamestation are just not competitive anymore, and in a recession paying £10 over the online going rate for the pleasure of someone trying to force me to buy a load of rubbish I neither want nor need at the checkout, is never going to work.

How many PS3, 3DS' and other consoles were trade in at the same time?
It is good for consumers, but any investor seeing how GAME operate, would dump their shares immediately. It just screams like making huge loses in the long term, by stockpiling old items that no one wants.
