Yes once again Resident Evil is back for more zombie bludgeoning mayhem. So if you’re a fan of the Capcom classics and like a bargain then check out this deal. Gamestation are offering Resident Evil 5 on the PS3 and 360 for £19.99 – a price which beats the next best deal by nearly seven pounds!
But if your getting slightly tired of the same old post – apocalyptic zombie survival games (let's face it it’s been done so many times that if the dead do suddenly rise up all us gamers will know exactly what to do) rest assured, RE5 is totally different.
There is still plenty of stuff to kill but sadly, it's goodbye to the good old traditional zombies whose heads we all loved to pop off with the magnum. Now the biological outbreak produces infected enemies who have much greater agility, speed and intelligence.
The game also has a totally new setting which is quite unconventional. It now takes place in the deserts of Africa where, once again determined to put a spanner in the works of Umbrella’s bio - weapon ambitions, the player takes control of Chris Redfield.
But what’s really new about Resident Evil 5 is that it’s all about fast paced action. The emphasis is no longer on horror which has really upset a few fans. Gone are the isolated settings, the terror every time you see that door entrance cut scene, the jumpy atmosphere, and now the game has more of a straight forward 3rd person shooter format.
However even though it may sound like a potentially disastrous departure from the old games, the series was in dire need of something new. And Capcom have delivered this with a totally new setting, added features like co-op mode, stunning visuals and intense action - packed gameplay.
Even though this might upset the hardcore minority, Capcom have done well to pull of something different. Before everyone gets upset, rest assured, you know those zombies will be back, but for now, at least we can play this one on our own at night!
