Resident Evil 5 is an enjoyable action game but sadly lacking in the panache, atmosphere and scares offered by previous instalments to the series.
Gamestation are offering the game at the absolute killer price of £16.98 which is half the cost of the next best offer (£34.99 from Game Play) and less than most retailers ask for the normal version! The last time Gamestation offered this item for a similar price they completely sold out within a couple of hours so if you want to snap up a copy then don't delay!
The limited edition is housed in a very fancy steel casing and comes with an exclusive "Making of..." blu-ray, making it a great gift for collectors.
There is a lot to recommend Resident Evil 5. For starters, it is still rare to find games with such high quality graphics; the character models are beautifully realised and you can almost feel the heat exuding from the sun baked towns and plains. There is plenty to do with some great rewards for completing the main campaign and the option to play through in co-op mode really adds to the fun. There are plenty of exciting moments such as huge bosses and nicely designed set -pieces featuring multiple enemies.
Despite how well made Resident Evil 5 is and all the good things it has to offer, it completely failed to move me. Even now, thinking about the fourth episode in the series fills me with an enthusiasm and excitement which Resi 5 simply cannot manage to replicate. And so this game comes well recommended but don't expect a classic.
