Leon & Chris Head To China
After weeks of unstoppable rumour, Capcom has officially announced and detailed Resident Evil 6. The latest iteration of the classic franchise will see Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield team up to stop a bioterrorism attack in China and the US, promising dramatic action on a global scale.
More shockingly, they've actually confirmed a release date - right down to the day. Full details and trailer after the break.
Resident Evil 6 has been slated for a November 20th release on PS3 and Xbox 360, though Capcom have also confirmed that a PC version is also in the works and plans to release at a later date. As opposed to a single location, we can expect a truly globe-trotting adventure this time around as two fan-favourite protagonists team up for the first time.
"It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President’s side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision. At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack. With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world’s population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left."
The two-character focus will allow Capcom to deliver both singleplayer and cooperative gameplay, and Capcom believes that Resident 6 is their most ambitious and exciting survival horror game to date.
Resident Evil 6 represents a giant stride forward in the evolution of the series. The development team, led by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, is working tirelessly to deliver the most impressive Resident Evil title ever both in terms of scope and production values. We are all genuinely excited by the title and cannot wait to share it with the world. - Katsuhiko Ichii, Head of R&D and Global Marketing
From the outset the team’s intention was to create an experience that delivers a gripping storyline, tense single-player and co-op action all set against a constant theme of horror. We are calling this fusion dramatic horror and are confident it will resonate with both existing fans of the series as well as newcomers. - Hiroyuki Kobayashi, Resident Evil 6 Executive Producer
Before all that, though, we've still got Resi Revelations and Operation Raccoon City to play. More details as we snag them.
