I'm not sure whether to be excited or deeply fearful at the news that Resident Evil 6 is set to make some pretty major changes to the standard set-up of the previous games in the series, so I'm going to fall back on the hope that it's a step in the right direction!
Masachika Kawata, producer of Resident Evil: Raccoon City, had this to say about the next chapter in the deliciously gruesome set of games:
The series will see a complete renovation with the next entry on every level. But we can't forget about all the previous entries that have led to the creation of many possibilities for the franchise. I can't say if we're going to make it [Resident Evil 6] survival horror or a shooter . . . but I can say that it'll be totally different.
Fingers crossed it'll be a combination of survival horror and shooter, rather than just plonking it haphazardly into a single genre, although who know it could always cross over into RPG territory I suppose. The important thing is that these changes are for the better like the ones we saw in Resident Evil 4, rather than those in the decidedly average Resident Evil 5! [Kotaku]
