Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles - Bundle £15.97 @ Amazon [Wii]

The Darkside Chronicles allows gamers to play through renovated sections of Resident Evil 2, Code Veronica, and a brand new story, oh yeah and you get a shiny new gun accessory for your troubles.

The bundle, including the game and zapper, will set you back £15.97 at Amazon, which is almost £2 cheaper than the next best offer of £17.91 from Asda and is only just over £3 more expensive than buying the game by itself. You may have to wait a week or two for this one, though.

For an on rails shooter, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the graphics and the amount of destruction that you can cause to the environment.

The ability to play through the graphically enhanced sections of Resident Evil 2 and Code Veronica are wonderfully nostalgic, whilst the new parts of the game fit nicely into the established mythology.

What appealed to me the most about RE:TDC was the ability to completely immerse myself in the survival horror shooter world of the Resident Evil series, by running around my living room with something that actually resembled a gun instead of holding the controller up to my face and pretending to aim down the shoulder buttons.

The only downside that I could see to the game was the camera, which is stationed over the shoulder of your character giving you a 3rd person perspective instead of the familiar 1st person view of most lightgun games, and initially can cause you to feel a bit disorientated.

This is a thoroughly enjoyable piece of zombie fighting fun, which'll have you glued to your screen zapper in hand trying to prevent further outbreaks from threatening humanity.
