Taunt Your Mates On MiiVerse
Capcom have released some new details about Resident Evil Revelations' home console and PC version today, confirming a new character, two new enemies and a host of new Wii U-specific features (mainly designed to let you mercilessly taunt your friends). Get it all after the break.
Resident Evil freshman Rachel, who made her somewhat tragic debut in the original 3DS release of Resident Evil Revelations, will be now join Hunk as a playable Raid Mode character. Two new enemies will also feature in the campaign and multiplayer, including the disgusting Wall Blister (pictured above) and a "surprise new creature that appears in Raid Mode once players have reached a certain level." 'Surprise' being a relative term, since you can see a screenshot of it right here.
PC owners will also get to play as Left 4 Dead 2 characters in multiplayer thanks to a crossover collaboration with Valve. More details here.
Wii U players will be treated to some console-specific functionality based around the GamePad and MiiVerse. The GamePad touchscreen can be used to quickly access and swap weapons and items, while also displaying an interactive map. Off-TV play will be supported, as will the Pro Controller.
Perhaps more excitingly, Miiverse has also been brought into the experience. Players can post a dying message on the Game Over screen for other players around the world to see, perhaps giving sage advice to avoid others suffering the same fate. Or mercilessly trolling all and sundry. You'll also be able to personalise Raid Mode creatures with speech bubbles that will be downloaded into other players' games. The mind boggles.
Resident Evil Revelations will release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and Wii U on May 24th in Europe. I shouted the 3DS version's praises from the rooftops in our 9/10 review, but whether the carefully-designed handheld title will translate well to home consoles remains to be seen.
