Resistance: Burning Skies Gets Survival Mode

Pre-Order MP Experience Boost Announced

Hot on the heels of Resistance: Burning Skies' multiplayer being thoroughly detailed last week, Nihilistic Software has revealed a new gametype for the Vita FPS. Entitled 'Survival,' you might instantly expect it to be a standard horde mode, but it's actually a team-based competitive versus experience where a rapidly-depleting squad of humans are set upon by unlimited hordes of player-controlled Chimera.

In Survival, a team of powerful human survivors are pitted against a squad of weaker Chimera troops. However, while the survivors have access to incredibly potent weaponry, their deaths are permanent - and they respawn as Chimera. The balance of power will soon start to shift in the alien team's favour, meaning that tight teamwork, hunting in packs and desperate retreats are going to be the order of the day.

It's a bit like Halo's Infection gametype, basically, but with Chimera and Resistance's outstanding arsenal of imaginative weapons. You can read more over at the PlayStation Blog.

In other news, you can get an early multiplayer advantage through Resistance: Burning Skies' pre-order bonuses. Participating retailers (TBA) will offer an instant boost to level five - and immediate access to the first grenade type. You'll also get three character avatars based on Burning Skies’ lead characters Riley, Ellie and a Chimera, along with a custom PS Vita lock screen theme.
