It's only been a week since I was waxing lyrical about the awesome £21.95 price tag that Zavvi had attached to Resonance of Fate but now they've gone a few steps better and the game can be yours for only £17.95. This is a great saving of nearly £6 compared to the next cheapest for the PS3 version (£23.89 from Send It), and an even better £7 off the next cheapest for the 360 (£24.99 from Shop To).

The story is a largely successful juggling act of drama and comedy which just about manages to keep you engaged for the game's 40 hour play time. It takes place on Earth in a far-off future in which the atmosphere has become poisonous and humanity has all but become extinct as a result. Basel, a great device created to purify the air is all that sustains what is left of the world's people, that is, until it begins to malfunction...
They may feature the same old tired JRPG foppish teen stereotypes, but the cut-scenes are nonetheless lovely, beyond this though, none of the environments appear to have received anything close to the slavish detail that seems to be slathered over the character's costumes and hairstyles. Thankfully more care has been given to the combat system which is unique and very challenging. Once you get used to it you can look forward to some very satisfying battles which will require plenty of strategic thinking.
It's not a brilliant game, but Resonance of Fate is reasonably lengthy and enjoyable; if you're a fan of the JRPG then you'll probably find that it's well worth an £18 punt.
