You might not be overly familiar with Respawn Entertainment, EA's new upstart studio set up by former Infinity Ward heads, Jason West and Vince Zampella. However, chances are you've played a few of their lesser known games, like indie classic Modern Warfare and its understated sequel, Modern Warfare 2. All jokes aside, Respawn is being built from the ground up, so don't expect their first game any time before 2015, according to an inside source.
"I’m having the most fun working with Respawn Entertainment right now," reveals freelance concept artist, Iain McCaig. McCaig has worked on a number of projects from several mediums, including films as well as videogames. He provided designs for Darth Maul and Queen Amidala, for example, and oversaw work on The Secret of Monkey Island. "I hate that I can’t show you guys what I’m doing there until 2015."
In the wake of their controversial split from Activision, West and Zampella took a number of key Infinity Ward personnel with them to Respawn. However, they've always insisted it would be a while until the studio announced their first title, focusing on team-building, engine development and laying the groundwork for another mega-blockbuster.
